Rebranding PE: Alternative Roles for Educators in a Changing Indiana Landscape
Friday November 6, 2026 2:30pm - 3:15pm EST
This session will explore how secondary education teachers in Indiana can leverage their instructional, leadership, coaching, and wellness expertise to access a broader range of employment opportunities. As Graduation Pathways changes have reshaped staffing and course offerings, many PE educators are seeking ways to remain professionally viable  while continuing to serve students and communities. Participants will learn about transferable skills, alternative licensure options, coaching and strength -and-conditioning roles, college and community-based positions, and pathways into related fields.

This session will also demonstrate how physical education teachers can help design a high school exercise science pathway, creating a sequence of courses that introduces students to anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, fitness, wellness, and and related careers while supporting college and career readiness
