Practice What You Teach: The Wellness Lessons We Forget to Give Ourselves
Thursday November 5, 2026 8:55am - 10:20am EST
PE educators spend their days teaching students the importance of healthy habits, perseverance, recovery, and balance. Yet too often, the people encouraging others to thrive are running on empty themselves.

In this uplifting and energizing keynote, educator, author, and speaker Carrie Wisehart challenges participants to consider what happens when we extend ourselves the same encouragement, patience, and grace we so freely offer our students. Through humor, personal stories, and practical insights, Carrie explores how the very lessons we teach in the gym, on the field, and in the classroom can help us navigate stress, avoid burnout, and reconnect with what matters most.

Attendees will discover simple strategies to protect their energy, celebrate progress over perfection, and create more "Best Day Ever" moments, even during life's most challenging seasons. Because wellness is not about having perfect days. It is about recognizing the good, embracing growth, and staying connected to your purpose.

Participants will leave refreshed, inspired, and equipped with practical tools to sustain their well-being, strengthen their resilience, and continue making a positive impact on the students and communities they serve.

Mrs. Teacher to Mrs. Gym - Transitioning from Classroom Teacher to Teaching an the Gym
Thursday November 5, 2026 10:30am - 11:15am EST
Join in on an interactive discussion session focused on the unique journey of transitioning from a traditional classroom teacher into the role of a PE teacher. Drawing from my 3 years of teaching 5th grade and then transitioning to my 15 year of teaching Physical Education, I will present key topics on how to navigate the shift, adapt behavior management for larger spaces, and introduce unique programs that build a library of physical literacy skills. This session is designed to be highly collaborative, providing an open forum to field questions, share real-world challenges, and collaborate with other physical educators on how to successfully pivot into the gym while continuing to provide the best experiences for our students.

From Passive Notes to Active Skills: Rethinking Note-Taking in Health Education
Thursday November 5, 2026 12:45pm - 1:30pm EST
Traditional note-taking often falls short in skills-based health education.

When students are asked to copy definitions or slides, they may “complete” notes—but they rarely
develop the decision-making, reflection, and application skills health education is designed to teach.
In this session, participants will explore how guided, interactive note-taking can support skills-based
instruction. Using real classroom examples, this presentation will demonstrate how note-taking can
move beyond passive recording to become an active learning experience that builds essential National
Health Education Standards skills. Participants will experience sample note-taking activities the skills-
based way.

Mental Health Awareness and Best Practice in PE
Friday November 6, 2026 2:30pm - 3:15pm EST
Physical education teachers are in a unique position to notice, hear, and support students in ways that may not always happen in a traditional classroom. Movement can help students feel safe, talk, connect, and regulate emotions. This session will include light movement, reflection, and practical examples for recognizing concerns, knowing who to turn to, and building SEL and safe practices into daily PE routines.
